Job Specification - Dunlossit Estate Manager

The post will be located at Knocklearach, Ballygrant, Isle of Islay, Argyll PA45 7QL and the incumbent will be housed by the Estate. The post holder will be employed through a professional firm but will report directly to the Chairman and Board of Trustees and the Beneficiary.  The salary will be in the range of £45,000 to £50,000 (negotiable).

Job Purpose

To develop and manage the sporting estate of Dunlossit on the Isle of Islay

Job Description

The post holder will be responsible for managing Dunlossit Estate in accordance with the instructions of the trustees through: The development and management of field sports on the Estate The management of the farming enterprise, forestry operation and the quarry The management of the meat enterprise comprising the abattoir and the meat retail outlets The management and administration of over 30 Estate employees and all the buildings on the Estate

The post holder will be responsible for the production of budgets, reports and longer term schedules of works as required by the Trustees for up to three formal meetings each year

Personal Requirements

The post holder should possess the following qualities:The ability to respond positively to a wide and varied work load with a high degree of self-motivation Experience of managing a medium sized land-based enterprise First hand experience of field sports and a practical knowledge of farming, forestry, property and moorland management Experience in business administration, budget production and management  Knowledge of agricultural, forestry, environmental and other grant schemes Full computer literacy
